Description

1999 facsimile of original 1908 edition, Kregel, 999+32 pages, hardback, 22.5×14.5cm.

Originally published in 1877, with later editions in 1886, 1892 and 1908, this enduring work combines a dictionary and concordance in one handy reference volume.

Giving every English word in alphabetical order, Bullinger provides the Greek word or words behind each English word. In addition, there is a list of passages in which each English word occurs with a reference to the Greek word used in each passage. Thus, at one glance, the Greek word with its literal and derivative meanings may be found for every word in the English New Testament.

The English text followed is Bagster’s Critical New Testament, a printing of the 1611 King James Version. However, the alterations made in 1683 and 1769 in the King James Version are noted. The Greek text is an eclectic one, based not only on the Textus Receptus (the text behind the KJV) but also on the work of Griesbach, Lachmann, Tischendorf, Tregelles and Alford, well-known textual scholars of the nineteenth century.

The value of this work is enhanced by a Greek-English index, which lists all Greek words in the New Testament in alphabetical order, together with the English words used to translate them. Also included is a concise Greek Grammar.

Additional features:

  • Vocabulary of New Testament Greek
  • Concordance of proper names
  • Appendix of biblical references to common pronouns, particles, and conjunctions
  • Concordance of variant readings
