Terms and Conditions

  1. Payment Options: We accept all major credit and debit cards and use a secure payment system, WorldPay, which has been developed in association with the NatWest Bank PLC. All prices are quoted in GB Pounds. Currency conversions in Euros or US Dollars are accessible during the payment process.
  2. Credit Card Security: We know of no documented cases of credit card fraud using our shopping system over the Internet. All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is placed using 2048 bit encryption systems. They are not held in clear text.
  3. Delivery Methods & Times: Orders for delivery within England and Wales are despatched by 1st class post or Business Post; Scotland and Northern Ireland by 1st class post or Standard Parcel; Southern Ireland and Europe by Air Mail or Standard Courier; North America by Air Mail, Airbridge or M-Bag; rest of World by Economy Mail or M-Bag. Please see “delivery charges” page for time scales.With the exception of weekends and Bank Holidays periods, we aim to process your order as swiftly and efficiently as possible. Normally orders are despatched within 7 working days from receipt of your order, but we do reserve the right to hold orders if some items are temporarily out of stock so please allow up to 28 days. Approximate delivery times for non-stock items are given in the item description.
  4. Delivery Charges: These are given as part of the checkout process (please see Delivery Charges page for full details).
  5. Returns Procedure: We will make every effort to ensure items arrive in perfect condition. In the event of your order not being delivered within a reasonable period, customers should advise us. We will make every effort to locate it, and if necessary, send a replacement at our expense or provide a full refund. If a purchase is faulty or damaged customers should contact us in writing within 7 days of receipt and we will advise on procedure for refund or replacement.
  6. Refunds: If a customer cancels an order, written notice must be given to us 7 working days from the day after that on which the goods are received by the customer; refunds for valid claims will be made via the same method of payment as used to place order.
  7. Retention of Title: This remains with us until the goods are paid for in full.
  8. Responsibility for Local Taxes & Duties: These are the responsibility of the shopper or recipient in the country of destination.
  9. Order Confirmations: Upon submitting an order using our automated shopping basket system, with payment made through the secure payment gateway servers, you will receive two e-mails. An ‘Order Confirmation’ from us and a ‘Transaction Authorised’ receipt from the payment gateway.
  10. Stock Levels: As far as is reasonably possible, all products featured on the web site are in stock and available at the time of ordering. However, we source many items from around the world and there are occasions when there may be a delay replenishing stocks. If this occurs we will keep you fully informed, with the option of cancelling the order.
  11. Confirmation of Despatch: Confirmation of despatch of orders will be sent by e-mail.
  12. Invoices: Will be sent with goods.

  14. Data Protection: We do not sell to anyone our database of customers, and information contained on customers remains confidential to Golden Age Books. We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998). We collect information about you for two reasons: firstly, to process your order and secondly, to provide you with the best possible service. We will not e-mail you in the future unless you have given us your consent. Should you wish to contact us regarding our Privacy Policy please do so.
  15. Availability: Whilst every effort will be made to supply the items advertised, the titles offered are subject to availability.
  16. Unforeseen Circumstances: While every effort will be made to meet customers’ demands, cancellations may be necessary as a result of Act of God, War, Strike, Lockout, Labour Dispute, Fire, Flood, Drought or other causes beyond our control.
  17. If you have a complaint, please contact us immediately. All complaints will be acknowledged within two business days. Any complaint will be dealt with fairly, effectively and confidentially. These complaints will be dealt within seven working days. These terms and conditions do not affect your consumer’s statutory rights.
  18. Law: These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law and you hereby agree to be subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts of England.
